Cristobalite inclusions in quartz are actually a polymorph, the chemical composition being silicon dioxide.

These inclusions are uncommon and constitute evidence of high temperatures during the crystals' growth, typically around 1700 degrees C, as opposed to the temperature of around 870 degrees C. at which quartz commonly forms.
