Sterling Silver and Fire AgateFire agate, a type of chalcedony, exhibits striking iridescent flashes reminiscent of flames. It is uniquely sourced from regions in central and northern Mexico and the southwestern U.S. Unlike true agates, fire agate generally lacks banding. Formed 24 to 36 million years ago during the Tertiary Period, it resulted from intense volcanic activity when hot, silica- and iron oxide-rich waters permeated rock fissures, solidifying into chalcedony interspersed with crystallized iron oxide layers.
